The Optima is a "gel-cell" technology battery.... it is completely sealed and can be installed upside down. They tend to be more for off-road use and race cars.They also are sold with special hold down brackets if you need them. Unless you need a special installation, I really wouldn't recommend the additional cost (about twice as much as a Duralast). From what I see they do not last as long as the Duralast or Duralast Gold Batteries.... most tell me they get about three years from the Optima. My Duralast got eight. And I never had a problem with it in the winter.
