I have an Optima in my Chev. Suburban. In that truck, the cables tend to stress the terminals in such a way that tiny cracks form around the post, leading to corrosion of the cable and possible leaks. Happened to me twice over a period of about 5 years. With the Optima (about 4 yrs now), there is no sign of corrosion, and the CCA is very good. They are more expensive, but for this application, I consider the expense worth it. I'd put one in my Fastback as my next battery if I knew it fit, although I've never had a problem with conventional lead-acid in my Fastback. Toby, do you have an Optima in a squareback? If so, how is the fit? Stock hold-down clamp OK? I thought they were too tall for a stock installation...? Kinda like the 009 of batteries. as I remember the life span was much less than the 8-10 years I get out of the lead acid ones. Some folks loved them though... so lets hear how their making out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
