It's certainly easier with the muffler out of the way, but Russ pointed out that if you remove the pulley and it's steel housing together then you can do all of this with the muffler in place. I find removing mufflers to be a royal pain, unless it's just freshly installed, but that probably has a lot to do with my climate. On the other hand, Daniel's muffler in Israel probably came off easily. You'll have to examine your muffler to see how bad it would be to remove, keeping in mind that exhaust studs can break, as can mufflers and associated parts. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
