You will have to take the whole door apart, and I mean EVERYTHING has to come out. Work slowly and carefully. Don't put bends in things and don't force things. A wrinkled piece of trim will look wrinkled forever. > I'm pretty excited about having this setup...I'll finally be able to wash my > car properly without water poring in the door. The scrapers have little to do with keeping water out. When you have the door all apart, clean out the bottom and clear out the drains. The drains are the secret. There was also a clear plastic sheet glued inside the vinyl trim panels. If that is not there, then the water, which will still get in, will also destroy your trim panels. Make sure that the plastic sheet is there, is intact, and is glued all around. (I use rubber cement.) You can cut new sheets from heavy clear plastic that you buy at Home Despot. > On a second note, it rained pretty good on me yesterday and I noticed a > small amount of water coming out behind the dash and landing in the front > passenger foot area. Any ideas? Once again, the secret is the water drains. There are 2 water drain hoses, which are different depending on your year. I think I have a writeup on this. It is VERY important to fix this, because letting it go will rust out the floor and destroy the car. Fortunately, it's easy to do. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
