Brian,

You say that it has been starting "very slowly." Do you mean that you have to 
crank a long time, or that it only runs slowly once started?

Where are you? How cold is it there? Have you done the normal tuneup items 
(dwell, timing, valve adjustment) recently?

Has it been raining a lot where you are?

How's your gas mileage been lately?

I know it's counterintuitive, but corrosion on the cap and rotor have no effect 
on anything.
