I really can't afford to tow it. any ideas? You might just make it okay, but if it is FI you can pull the injector plug so that you don't spray fuel down the throat of a cylinder that isn't firing. If you find that this makes the engine even weaker, then it means that this cylinder actually IS firing once it gets up to speed, so you should reconnect it. There are a couple of gotchas here. If the bad cylinder is 1 or 2 then that side will never warm up completely, meaning that the thermostat won't open. This will make is likely to overheat the left side. If the bad cylinder is # 4 and the engine is FI then the temp sensor will never get warm and the FI will run rich the whole time, which will be extra hard on everything. What it boils down to is that you should not try this if the bad cyl is 1 or 2, and if you have FI you should not try it if the bad cyl is # 4. Good luck, and get back to us when you can. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
