It won't work right at all if you get the hoses swapped, BUT you can omit the # 12 valve and just run the vac advance straight to its port. It's the only year that had the vac retard and the only year when you have to follow the special proceedure, but you HAVE to follow it if you expect it to run decently, and only the Bentley gets the proceedure right.
