My 69 column locks, and so did my 68 when i had it... the tabs were relativly easy to break , brace your arm in there good enough and slam the steering really good... pop ... no more steering lock... I watched a friend do this when his 69 ate a key,and we had to get it on a trailer and woory about the key later..
Also i just aquired a 68 Squareback (beat up body , working f.i. needs a little adjustment) it has the locking steering column... so i hope that answers your question.
By the way HELP!!! the F.I. back fires a little bit should i go through the normal tune up procedures??? any advice would be well taken.
