That looks fine. Just make sure that once the tank is in place none 
of the hoses can be rubbed by the tie rod.

Where did you find new grommets that large?

The steel lines stick out the rear only about the same amount that 
they stick out the front.

You can remove the old hose and use it to cut your new hose. I 
generally make the new hose a bit longer, or feed in the whole long 
length and cut it only after the first end is attached and clamped 
and I can be sure of the routing I like for the rest of it.

The late boxes are filled with a kind of grease, and it is common for 
them to leak a bit and look like this. You may not really have a 
problem, but it's worthwhile checking the 4 cover bolts to make sure 
they are tight, as they sometimes loosen up.

There are 2 plastic plugs in the cover. If you really want to, you 
could try to remove one of them carefully. That would let you stick 
something down there to check for grease, and you can squirt more 
grease in that same hole if it seems low. I believe this gearbox can 
be almost completely filled. When I add grease to these, I use a MoS2 
filled grease for the best wear protection.
