On my trip to Texas many moons ago, I saw a substantial mpg increase when I went from 80mph to 75mph. I've known about the exponential aerodynamic law for some time and that trip proved it to me!

Looks like your mpg was pretty similar, Jim.
I get about 27 mpg(US) on long journeys with my twin-carb Variant at around 60
to 70 mph, which looks pretty similar too.

Salutary lesson for us - looks like it costs Toby almost twice as much for his
miles as for the slowest here (ignoring the UK taxation laws!). ;-)
