The problem is using no filter in a used engine with crud in places, once
its loose, it just keeps getting flushed through the bearings, and the
synth loosens it up.

I didnt drill the plugs, but I did flush the passages and cooler with the
parts washer.
The thing is, for the first 10K mi there were no problems, it ran great, had
excellent oil pressure and no bearing noise... then as soon as the synth
went in the temps would rise dramatically on the highway, and the oil
pressure took a dive. 350miles later the dino went back in but the damage
was already done.

I came *very* close to junking the car. If I didnt have a worn out old spare
engine I could throw in I would have had to get rid of it, I was a penniless
college student at the time who spent his last $$ the summer before on the
new engine.

Im not sure if it wasnt simply crud that had built up over the 10K that I
had driven it, I keep the oil pretty clean but the break in always leaves
sludges in places. It certainly could have been something that was left
from the engines previous life... and that life did include defective JC
Whitney parts :-0
