It seems OK, As long as the silicone peeling off like that hasn't started it 
leaking.

Well, I've now managed to find a new oil strainer, and if I can lay my hands 
on another pan gasket, then I will probably have the pan off again some 
time, so I'll put the new solenoid-wire seal in then.

Is there anything in this tranny that doesn't leak?
