Around the central plate (the one that it held on with all those screws),
there was some very old, stringy silicone sealant that just peeled off. Is
that even supposed to be there? Does that part ever leak?
That central plate, is your differential assembly. If there is silicone around it, that means it has probably been out before. If it is not leaking at that joint, you don't need to mess with it. It would be differential grease.
I have changed the gaskets on the governor cover and the filler. The filler
tube is tightly screwed on. Any idea what can be leaking?
Looks like you have a leak at the seal around the wire going into the kick down solenoid. Should be one in your gasket set, but, I hate to say, you will have to pull the pan to put it in. that plastic piece is a kinda press fit with molded in clips to hold it.
Is there anything in this tranny that doesn't leak?
