Hi all, I'm stripping down a '72 front beam which I took from a parts car. The car had ~60K miles on it, and had been standing for many years. I believe the mileage is genuine. Its an absolute joy stripping this down - for the first time with something old like this, I'm finding that its been well cared for - the grease nipples are all present, and very greasy. Inside everything is completely packed with grease. Most of the beam & arms still have the very thick factory underseal on them, and combined with leaked grease, the metal underneath is mostly A1 condition. My question is - with this mileage, and evidence of good maintenance, should I expect the bearings etc. to be OK and just clean & rebuild it all ? There are no marks from the needle bearings on the arms. -- Matt. UK.
