VW ISPWest sells a kit for about $200.

I have yet to make this kit work. It comes with a 5/8" master, and 7/8" slave cylinder, since it uses the stock pedal assembly, that means it requires almost twice (x1.96) as much travel to disengage / engage the clutch fully. One of the things that the instructions don't mention is the need to remove your pedal stops in order to get this much travel. This implies that the tolerances are close. Supposedly folks have this kit working. I've currently parked the car while I determine what to do next.

more history and the instructions for the Saco Kit can be found here:

A setup with a 3/4" would still provide for an easier clutch, but require less travel. a 7/8" master would act like a really strong cable.
