I wonder if any of you have any other suggestions. I have a big propane
torch
that I can take out there and just heat up the whole drum. The lug bolts and
the little drum bolts all came out just fine.
Suggestions please...? ;-p >>
I take it you're not worried about saving the drum, as you are more wanting
to move the car. And since the drum is toast, you might try sacrificing a flat
blade screw driver, and send it thru (at an angle) one of the bolt holes to
help you remove the drum. I've done this a few times to get those really
stuburn drums off (not all VW's either). I've even got a bent cheapie screw driver
(with the shank all the way thru) that I use just for this. Basically what
you're trying to do is seperate the drum from the hub, then you can get the drum
off, and move the car more easily. This is about the only thing I can think of,
and you've already beat around the drum (doesn't work for me either), and
tried releasing the adjusters. Sometimes the propane torch will help here, but
I've found it really needs a wedge to help seperate it. I hope this helps.
