Re: [T3] Gauges, mount points, and which ones.

Fess=> Where do folks like to mount their gauges?

Besides the tach in the clock position and the clock in the speaker hole, I
have oil temp and oil pressure guages in the Ghia. I've used a head-temp
guage in the bus, and I think that's a bit more useful than the oil-temp
guage.

My small (1-1/2") VDO guages are mounted in chrome bullet-style cases under
the center of the dash (in place of the ashtray), aimed at me. I'd have
liked them to be more in line of sight, but between the steering wheel
interference, the small dash area and my aversion to cutting holes in it,
this was as well as I could do.

My oil pressure sender also has a contact point for the idiot light, and so
replaces the stock sender. On a stock Type 3 this is tapped into the top of
the oil cooler through a small 90-degree block that tucks the sender under
the air cleaner. I run a Type 4 cooler, which has no sender boss, and my
sender is tapped into the case just ahead of the distributor.

My oil temp sender is tapped into a boss on my deep sump.

=> tricky combination gauges

I wish! I've yet to see anything useful for a Type 3. But I haven't been
looking much lately, so if you find anything, share!
