To properly time an 009, you need to use a dial back type timing light. Set 
it for 30 degrees, and rev the engine to 3000 rpms. You need to let the idle 
fall where it will. You need to use the same mark that you use to set the valves 
for this operation. This is how it's set. I hope this helps.
