[T3] Engine vibration

Following a list discussion that woke us up to the possibility and some
further diagnostic work, I decided to try changing out the fan to eliminate
a persistent engine vibration. I got a known good fan from Jim Adney
(thanks, Jim!), and went in.

The operation worked, but it turns out that the problem wasn't the fan. In
testing the assembly, we found that the critical part was the pulley (what
some think of as the 'outer fan'), which was out of balance. We used Jim's
fan (since it was already installed), acquired another pulley from the shop
heap of our local rebuilder, and buttoned 'er up. Vibration all gone.

The pulley was original, and had stayed with the motor through several
rebuilds. It's difficult to say for sure, but we suspect that at some point
it threw one of its balance pins, which are inserted into the holes along
the rim at the factory.

There was one other minor surprise. The 'new' pulley is larger than the old,
requiring a longer generator belt. (Data point: I converted the car to 12V
using a 6V-sized generator and the original generator pulley.) I'm inferring
that the new one is a 12V pulley.

I wonder: anyone have ideas on how to go about rebalancing a pulley or fan
that has thrown a weight in a home shop? For the sake of the future, we
really can't afford to just junk these parts if the can be saved.
