  sadly for me ive been where you are now .
in the end i took an angle grinder and cut a section out so i could get in
and re captivate the captive nut.
 the way i did this was a mig welder so you have to cut a hole big enough to
get your mig tip in there , now once youve done in there spray the captive
nut with some wax spray .
go get yourself a drink you deserve it next you have to close the hole you
made with the same grade of steel you took out if you used a cutting blade
on your angle grinder you may be able to use the peice you cut out if you
only cut it on 3 sides then folded it out then you only have to weld three
sides when you close it up welds must be nice and deep grind smooth clean
off prime and paint simple!!!!!
