I wouldn't be surprised if nylon washers would also work.

Wouldn't heat be a factor against using nylon washers here instead of copper?

I don't know. I have used nylon in other parts of the engine bay, but not here, in contact with the engine like this. During operation it won't be a problem, simply because it is right on the oil COOLER, but the heat soak after shutdown will be when they get the hottest.

I seem to have fixed the leak.

First of all, I suspect that the original copper washer is still there. Is it kind of embedded in the adapter block?

Whatever, I got another copper washer. this one was exactly the right diameter, but slightly thicker than the original, going by Russ's measurements. I put this in and the leak stopped.

Is there any way to test that the air cooler is working? Is it possible for it not to work, once it's installed and not leaking?
