I was never able to put things back together in a way that looked reasonable. > It's easy if you do that. I had thought of just cutting away that little piece of rubber that goes around the upper hinge, but you could also reglue it. So that's an easy workaround. But doesn't the lower hinge post pass right thru the middle of the seal? I think that's the show stopper. > It's a pity to drill out the originals and re-rivet with something a bit > different, I agree. > I haven't seen the original style rivets around, but maybe they're still > available - any info on that, Russ? I had noticed the originals as NLA, but then I found that they were superceeded by a different number that looked exactly the same. That was quite a few years ago, however. It still looks to me like you would have to take the vent frame completely out of the door to re-do the rivet, however. Does anyone have any hints on setting these rivets? Is there a special tool that would do this, even in the door? -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
