Yes. I have this adapter. It's "L" shaped, and screws into the oil cooler boss. The pressure switch screws into it and faces backwards, as you say. >This adaptor connects with a sort of > "banjo" fitting that uses copper washers on each side. I'm not sure what a banjo fitting is. Mine is screwed into the boss of the oil cooler and has no washers. On top of the adapter there is a hex-bolt shape that allows it to be tightened with a wrench, but I don't want to overtighten it. The leak, which seems very small, is coming from between the adapter and the oil cooler. You can see a small trickle going down the side of the boss. This is why I asked whether I am missing a gasket or washer there. You can see it in this quite old photo: http://www.type34.info/album/Engine/slides/Special%20carb%20linkage%20pivot% 20for%20automatics.html Daniel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
