I've had at least 1 type3 lowered 2 outer splines for over 8 years without 
any adverse effects. I actually prefer the ride of a lowered type3 over any othe 
VW I've drive (water pumpers included). I agree with Pat, though, 2 splines 
front, and 1 rear is good for my area too, as we have some very rough roads 
(real winters).
