Everett has already explained the different exhausts that you posted. Let me assure you that the exhaust is NOT your problem. No matter how bad it is, your car should still have no trouble getting above 50 mph. You need to look elsewhere before you worry about the muffler. Post your symptoms. Does it start and idle well? Has it had a correct tuneup (dwell, timing, valve adjustment) lately? What year? If FI, how is the fuel pressure? If your overflow hose is cracked you may have a gas tank full of water which has now rusted a lot of expensive things. The dirt in the water would have blocked up the filter and kept fuel from getting thru. Is the system voltage low? It should be above 13.5V at medium RPM. How was your gas mileage? -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
