I don't know that they are incompatable. It's true that I've had trouble with
those switches in recent years, but I find that EVERYONE has had trouble with
the replacement Brazilian switches in the last 10 years or so. I got many good
years out of my original switches, but they have mostly died by now.

What caused them to die? Your guess is as good as mine, but here's what I think
I see.

The OEM switches seem to last about 20 years, no matter which kind of brake
fluid you use.

Brazilian switches seem to last 1-4 years, no matter what kind of brake fluid
you use.

Draw your own conclusions.

I have taken both kinds apart to see what the internal differences are. I can
definitely say that the German ones are much more nicely engineered, and
clearly more expensive to make.

John Connelly was getting OEM German switches at one time. They cost maybe
twice as much as the Brazilian ones. It seems like they might be a good buy,
but keep in mind that I really don't know that they are still as good as the OE
ones. I have no experience with these, but I'm running out of patience with the
Brazilian ones and I'm very tempted to try.
