The transmission guy who lives up the road from my
parents' house (and does some work on vintage VW's)
said he'd go broke if it wasn't for Chrysler. :)

I just had a harsh introduction to present-day VW
quality. I treat my cars very well, and do not abuse
them. I got about 115K out of my last clutch (no
abuse). The tranmission on my Jetta was shot at 130K
and I just sold it for next to nothing. Looking at the
classifieds, I see precious few Jetta/Golf III's that
are alive at 150K. Very sad. I wonder if this is the
case with most new cars?

I'll bet my Square sees more than 200K with this
transmission. It's around 150K now and still seems
fine...
