Re: [T3] FI for Carbs

Hi Rich-

I'll be gentle...

I've owned a dual carb fastback that had stock Solex carbs and a 009 when I
bought it. It was originally FI with a carb conversion. The car did run
better when I put a stock distributor in it. Others here have more
experience than I on this..

> Stock coil better than Blue coil?

YES. I told my story with the blue coil in an earlier post.

> The stock FI is the best performing set up?

YES. Especially since that is what you have on there now. Based on the
picture you provided, it looks like your engine compartment is fairly tidy
and unmolested. Don't be afraid of the FI just because you have experience
with carbs. My current car is a '69 Fastback with all stock FI, and I
really like it. With everything in good shape, it starts and runs very
nicely.

Once you verify that the FI system is complete and adjusted properly (we can
help you with this! not much to it), you just have to keep the ignition
system maintained (same effort as with carbs). You hear "FI is junk" from
people who don't bother to learn about it. A lot of us here *have* bothered
to learn about it, and we like to help others who want to do the same. Give
the FI a chance.
