I think the "blue" coil is the common replacement that Bosch provides for
the original coil, which happened to be black.  I think you will find that
the old, grungy Bosch black coils that you pull out of junkyards will
outlast most of the new replacements.  I had a Mexican Bosch blue coil that
lasted less than a year before letting me down on the freeway.  I replaced
that dead coil with a rusty old black coil that I pulled from a wreck, and
all has been well since..
