Since the idle RPM is 850 +/- 50 for manual, and 900 +/- 50 for auto, that shouldn't happen often. Idle RPM is the first thing to check if the oil light flickers at idle (more likely after a high speed run). VW consider it isn't a problem if it goes off again as you raise the RPM, but it does give advance warning of bearing wear. Dave.
