> - remove the brass plug and spray carb cleaner at the main jet. > You can get at the main jet from the side when installed in the engine, but it's about an inch inside the carb after removing the brass plug. You can undo it no problem, but unless the carb top is off or the carb is out of the car you can't easily get it out, or replace it unless you have a clever system that will hold the jet on the screwdriver. Quickest is to pull the top off, then you can see the fuel level to make sure it's full. Remove the float (watch out for the little bits and the hinge pin that falls out), soak up the fuel in a cloth as you remove the side plug, undo the main jet and pick it out of the bowl. > Someone yesterday said something about a "needle" possibly being removed > from them (idle cut-off jets), which would explain why the car still runs when I deny both of > them power. I didn't see any kind of needle, should I have? > The needle is internal unless you unscrew the ends. But the engine doesn't run on the left bank of cylinders! Could be the right one is butchered to be open all the time and the left has stopped working anyway. This would stop it idling on the left bank, but I think it would still run with the throttle opened, fed through the balance pipes. Until you rule out a blocked main jet, don't bother trying to get more from the ignition system - it does seem to be working. Dave.
