Sure, and this test does not eliminate a carb problem, but it establishes that some at least some fuel is getting into the cylinder, and that fuel should be igniting. Given this, a carb problem would be giving you different symptoms, erratic firing at least. => I didn't make any any changes to the engine between => the time it was running strong and the time it had a loss => of power. Please flesh this out a little. Did you first notice power loss while driving? Or was it fine when you parked it, but when you got it going next it wasn't right? If while driving, did you notice anything else happening?
