Re: [T3] running on 2 cylinders
<x-flowed>>Please flesh this out a little. Did you first notice power loss while
driving? Or was it fine when you parked it, but when you got it going next
it wasn't right? If while driving, did you notice anything else happening?
As soon as I got going the next day, it seemed like it had very little
power, and the engine sounded different that it normally does (quieter, sort
of muffled). At first I just thought it was cold, but as I continued to
drive, the power level never increased. I didn't notice anything else
happening in conjunction with this.
Based on the information gathered today, here's what I'm planning:
-- Check for spark at the spark plug end of the plug wires.
-- Pick up a vacuum tester and check the vacuum on that side. The carb on
the left side has a fitting for the vacuum line to the distributor (which is
plugged on my car because my dist has mechanical advance). I can probably
attach at tester to that. What kind of reading am I looking for? Do you
know of any ways to check vacuum without actually buying a tester?
-- I'll also take Phil Cain's suggestion of replacing the points to see if
that helps.
Let me know if you have suggestions for other tests.
Gary
