Actually the seat back releases were always one of my favorite features on an older Type 3. As long as the cable hadn't seized over time (wet climates) they were pretty easy to make work I thought. There are several styles between the years. Make sure you get the appropriate replacement parts if you change them out or replace a part of them. I think 66 or 67 was the last year of them and had a black or dark colored plastic "button" on the door jamb lever piece. All the others were white. Rough year guestimates would be 61-63 same, 64-early 66 same and late 66-67 were same except for the different colored plastic "button". It has been a long time since I have looked at a type 3 that closely ( over 10 years 8-O ), so maybe a current resident guru can correct me? Was 67 the first year of the "side of the seat" releases?
