It sounds to me as if your idle valves are not working.  I also have stock
dual carbies on my notch (and for some reason I only have an idle valve on
the right hand carbie).

I wonder of the possibility that the idle valve is jammed shut on the #3 and
#4 side (the "faulty" side) and the other side jammed opened (hence #1 and
#2 side works fine.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?
