You don't have to take the axle tubes parts to replace them. The non-split boot require that you go thru a lot of extra work. I have never seen anyone replace a boot that way. I have only seen the non split put on from the outer end by taking the bearing housing/shock mount off the outer end. I would not recommend even trying to use a non-split boot, unless you have the proper tools. As for the bearing removal, I PM'd you. -- Russ Wolfe '71 FB AT '66 FB MT '64 T34 (not running) '65 T1 (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
