I checked that rim and another that is also off the car. They are both 4 1/2 and both are date stamped 12/66, which is right for a '67. This spare rim was hard to check, the stamping was very light, while the other stood out prominently. Maybe the (singular) PO had been going for a lowered look by using bug tires. Jeff '67 Sqbk -----Original Message----- Are you SURE it's a T3 rim? Late T1 and T3 rims are the same except for the offset. Your T3 rims should be 4.5" wide (inside, at the bead) and have 46mm offset. These numbers are actually stamped on the wheel center disk, between 2 lug bolt holes. It's VERY common to find beetle wheels & tires which have been swapped onto type 3s, and not too unusual to find beetle tires mounted on OE type 3 wheels. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
