I think it's really unlikely that you've suddenly got a rod knock for no
particular reason. You worked on the engine, then you heard a noise -- it's
logical to infer that the noise is the result of something you did.

It's why I'm thinking valve adjustment or something simple. No need to get
queasy yet.
