So assuming that I adjusted the valves correctly... is this a serious problem? I have yet to check the valves yet (I've had a few doctors appointments today before I head off to school tomorrow) but I'll let you guys know what I find when I do. It seems odd to me that when I take the fuel away from that cylinder, that noise goes away, but perhaps that's "normal" in these cases - this is my first time with an engine problem like this. I also "like" the fact that the engine runs better on 3 cylinders (without #3) than on 4 (with #3). My stomach is already a little queasy about the possibility of having to do an engine overhaul - especially since I only did this one 6 years ago. I'm thinking if the valves check out to be adjusted ok that I'll have to swallow my pride and get her on into my mechanic. Maybe you left a tool in there ... Or maybe you adjusted a valve while it was stuck, so now it is actually way out of adjustment. It might be usefut to have someone turn the engine over while you watch the #3 valve train move and make sure that everything is moving right. And double-check the adjustment of #3. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Shameless link for search engines: http://listarchive.type3.org ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
