I always state shipping costs in my auctions and in some cases I've eaten the difference when I've been wrong about the estimate. $12 for shipping alone is just totally out of control. $7 would've been outrageous, but still worthy of positive feedback if the item showed up as described. I rarely buy from people who don't list shipping prices for US delivery, or who don't clearly state their shipping price policy. But Russ, I think you would be well within your rights to back out of the auction under these conditions. Of course, I'm sure he's hoping you do exactly that as it will give him another chance to sell the thing in the proper listing category.
