[T3] Noise at rear
<x-flowed>Hi all,
Next Wednesday, I am going to take my car for its first road trip
probably in about 7 years, and hopefully on Thursday I will take it for
its test (like an English MOT test), and hopefully it will be back on
the roads.
In preparation for this, I have been making a few final checks, one of
which was an emergency stop, to see if it pulled up straight. I slammed
the brakes on at 50kph. It pulled up very quickly, and straight as a
rod, but just as it was coming to a halt, there was a big bang from the
rear. I could get it to do it again, so I've no idea what it was.
After this, I noticed that when I bounce the rear of the car there is a
creak on the right hand side. I've no idea if the two are connected, and
I was unable to isolate where it was coming from, even when I lay under
the car with a torch (flashlight) and bounced it from below.
I did notice that I am missing a bump stop on the rear right hand side.
The one on the left is a big item like a cream cake, with three tiers
(or maybe like three doughnuts one on top of the other). Does anyone
have one of these for the other side? Could this be what made the
noise? I didn't feel any jolt, as far as I remember.
Are the bang and the creak connected, and should I be worried?
Daniel
