Sounds like the throttle cable is sticking. There are a couple of easy things to check. First check under the pedal. There is a kind of cam there which can catch on the carpet. See if the idle comes back down if you lift up on the pedal. If that's the problem, slide your carpet up a bit, and maybe file the burr there smooth. If the cable itself is sticking, check the cable housing that the cable runs thru alongside the tranny. Make sure it is lined up with and properly fit into/onto the fittings at each end. You might want to pull the cable all the way out and lube it. It might just need to have some more slack adjusted into it at the back. If it still does this when you operate the throttle directly, in the engine compartment, then the problem is not in the cable or pedal. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
