The others here who've said that 315 in the VIN is for a 65 model year are
correct. You might have an early 65 built in late 64 that was registered in 64
in a state that decided it is a 64 when in reality it is a 65. California was
good for this in the 50's and 60's.

Yes, these items point to an "S" model. The "S" was an upgraded version of
the standard "N" model.

Well, since we now know your car is a 65, then it should have the normal pull
type switches, not the push button dash.

Does your car have dual carbs or a single side draft? This will tell you if
its an "S" or not. I hope this helps.
