Well... after a couple years since first use and some more experience this summer I can say that this stuff isnt the easy answer that many think it is. I had one of the kids use it extensively on his Golf... he scraped all the loose rust away, used the metal ready spray and 2 coats all as the directions suggested and the rust was coming back through within weeks. This was underneath the car where it may have been damp but no rain was able to get. Its not a cures-all, there are limitations and the only thing I can think of that might keep it from rusting through is to prevent any kind of trapped moisture. WIREWHEEL THE RUST!! simply scraping the loose scale doesnt seem to work... it leaves some scale that must be trapping moisture. DONT USE IT WHEN ITS HUMID!! Most of the failed application was when it was very humid out (trapped moisture) and although it cures much faster on a humid day I believe it traps the mosture as well. IT MAY WORK BETTER ON SOME GRADE STEEL than others... Some applications have held up well while others havent. Not sure about this one but a thought. This being said, I will continue to try using it and following suggestions above and see if that makes it hold up. But USE THIS STUFF WITH CAUTION... if it starts to rust through again as I have seen, getting it back off to try something else or try again is nearly impossible! It may be possible to prep enough to make it really hold up well... it has on my Opels brake drums, but im not sold on it by any means!
