It's just one of those square nuts welded onto the bottom of the pan. They can be a bit fragile, however, if you are in the habit of just slipping your foot sideways off the brake pedal and letting it slam up against the stop. I had to weld the one on my 73 back in place; the PO tore out the pan around it. > Now, a new battery, set the rear window in and vroom!
