Re: [T3]Clutchless shifting (was: kookie question)

<x-flowed>Clutchless shifting on a motorcycle is easy; In a car it takes a little more finesse. You basically have to know your engine well, and know where the revs are going to drop to in the next gear. (I've practiced this most often in my Honda Accord wagon, 5spd.) Say you're driving in third gear in that car; At 3k rpm, which is 40mph, ease up on the gas just a bit and slot the shifter back out of 3rd. You have to be pretty precise when slipping it into fourth; in this car's case, 40mph in 4th is about 2100 rpm. Basically you have to get it close enough to have both the input and output shafts going at the same speed when you drop it into the next gear. Downshifting from fourth to third is a lot harder!

I would attend such a tech session! I can shift clutchless on my motorcycle
but never had the "joy" of doing it in a car. Scary! ( <-- that was my wallet
talking ;-p )
