hey, I got the 69 running...kinda of. It was bodged over to carb setup with a big ol nasty metal box with 4 tubes out to the intake runners. and the PO bolted a Holley 2 barrel on top of that. I installed a 009 dizzy in place of the missing one to see if the thing would even turn over. static timed it with light. I did not trust the fuel in the tank so I put in a small tank in the engine compartment with fresh gas to test it with. The engine turned over with starting fluid but would not run on the gasoline from the carb. I thinks the carb needs an overhaul and general decruding. So, I borrowed a two carb setup from a friend. 2 weber 34's with all the linkage and intake pipes. runs pretty good for a bolt on without syncing the carbs. So I droppped it down off the jackstands and try the automatic tranny to see if it works. Remember this was my original concern, the auto tranny. goes real good in reverse. hardly moves in 1, 2, or 3. I realize it needs a vacuum to operate and cobbled in a line from the bottom of the 34's. Ideas, please, of what you all see. Is the tranny shot? or not enough info to tell? I have no experience with auto trannys. so I drove it up and down the drive in reverse. kinda cool but not really. hehehe tia, Steve ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
