Re: Kymco Header/Muffler Install Report

Hey all,

To respond to come of the comments/questions to my
email:

Hmmm...come to think of it maybe I am using brass nuts
instead of copper...the one I used are 12mm, not 13mm,
and have this little ring of additional metal on one
side...the rung is separated from the nut halfway
around, and you're supposed to ping this separated
area with a punch to lock it to the threads. This is
supposed to keep the nut from vibrating loose.

As for the exhaust, it exits through the left side
(FIF), right around where the stock muffler exits but
the outlet for the Kynco muffler doesn't wrap all the
way around the rear apron so the exhaust goes straight
out...I'll try to snap a pic that illustrates what I'm
talking about.

As for price, here's the information contained in
Kymco's ad:

Type III header:
- $ 64.99 raw
- $ 124.99 ceramic coated

Over the top muffler (single quiet pack):
- $55.00 raw
- $95.00 ceramic coated

Just FYI, their number is 888-321-3560 (standard
disclaimer...I'm in no way being compensated for my
endorsement here, and your results may vary).

Not sure if the coating is inside and out.

Toby also asked why I remove the rear wheels when
doing exhaust work...well, it's more of a luxury...I
can get to the exhaust nuts for cylinders 1 and 3 more
easily (no need to lay under the car) if I remove the
rear wheels. Just my preference.

Have a good evening all :-)
