Check the voltage across the battery - 12 Volts probably means it's OK - think again - 10 Volts means dud cell. When running the dynamo will keep enough electricity flowing for the electrics to work. If a battery that has been allowed to discharge over a long time is charged at a high rate, it can be damaged (mentioning that just in case it's not been in regular use). Dave.
