[T3] Breather tube rubber valve

I've tried the usual places to get hold of one of those little black rubber
valves that go on the end of the breather down-pipe on a late model carbed
fasty ('73). Does anyone know if this is shared with bugs? and if so the
part number?

And more to the point- does it actually do anything? I thought at one point
that it was like the one on my old 2CV that kept the crankcase under slight
vacuum and prevented oil leaks. But I can't see how that would work given
that there is another tube going to the air cleaner that would equalise the
vacuum- unless it adds to the vacuum as it is probably under slight vacuum
from the carbs also? Then theres the plastic lid that couldn't possibly
create a vacuum seal!

Is it really necessary or could I just block it off? If all else fails I'll
try to bodge something.
