Yes, it definitely is totally out of the question. These parts are worn in together and you will do more harm than good by mixing them up.



What about rotating them; i.e. putting the inner ones on the outside and vice-versa?

Similar to the above situation.


If not, I'm leaning towards keeping the outer ones, because the hubs are worn smooth (kind of cratered) but not pitted, and replacing the inner ones, because there is definite pitting on the inner hubs.

Yeah, keep the best ones in the same position and replace the worst ones.
